Amway protein vs whey protein: what is the difference?
25 Grams does not sell Amway products. We wrote this page because Thai shoppers search for Amway protein tens of thousands of times a month. Every Amway fact comes from the sources linked at the end, checked on 19 Oct 2026.
The Amway protein most Thai shoppers know is the Nutrilite All Plant powder range, which is plant protein. Whey is milk protein. So the two cannot be compared on everything; what can be compared fairly is how much protein you get, what you pay per gram of protein, and who each one suits.
What is Amway protein made from?
When Amway Thailand launched Nutrilite All Plant Protein Plus in May 2023, it described the protein as extracted from soy, wheat and peas, in a 450 g can, with 2 scoops a day mixed into 200 ml of water, priced at 1,500 baht for members and 1,650 baht retail.
What is whey protein made from?
Whey comes from milk: it is the liquid left from cheese making, separated and dried into powder. The difference between concentrate, isolate and hydrolyzed is explained in what whey protein is.
A fair comparison: price per gram of protein
Price per gram of protein = price ÷ (protein per serving × servings)
We could not find a verifiable protein-per-serving figure for the formula sold in Thailand, so we can only work out a minimum. A can of powder is never 100% protein, so the real price per gram of protein is always higher than the price per gram of powder.
- All Plant Protein Plus at retail: 1,650 ÷ 450 = 3.67 baht per gram of powder (members 3.33)
- All Plant Protein 900 g listed by one online shop at 2,142 baht (2,590 before discount): at least 2.38 baht per gram
In our store, by label figures and current prices, the best-value plant proteins are BAAM ISO-SOY (0.44 baht per gram), Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Plant (3.75 baht per gram), and the best-value whey is Ultimate Nutrition Prostar 100% Whey at 1.17 baht per gram. If you already have an Amway can, read its nutrition table and enter the price, protein per serving and servings in the price-per-gram calculator to get the real number to compare.
Which one suits whom?
- Cow's milk allergy: all whey comes from milk, so avoid it; plant protein is the alternative, see protein for a milk allergy
- Soy or wheat allergy: the Plus formula above contains both, so read the ingredients first
- Dairy is fine and you want value: compare price per gram of protein with whey using the same formula
- Vegetarian: see every plant protein we stock
How much per serving is enough?
The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) suggests about 20–40 g of protein per serving, whether plant or whey. Check how many grams the label's serving gives and how many scoops it takes to reach that range, since the number of scoops changes the cost per day too. Working it out from body weight is in how many scoops of whey a day.
